Based in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan and home to so many craftsmen and artistic lineages, Nakayama Doll has been creating dolls since 1657 without interruption and provides its customers with the finest examples of Kyo-ningyo, or Kyoto dolls, which include Hina ningyo (Hina dolls for the girls festival), Geisha dolls and Gogatsu ningyo (samurai dolls for the boys festival).
KIMEKOMI DOLLS
Nakayama Doll is also proud to be preserving the tradition of Kimekomi dolls – dolls that are made with a technique that saw birth in a temple here in Kyoto, and which are rare to find even in our city.
